Lactones

[edit]

6 are known, what percentages are in kava. What are their names, what do the molecules look like? The article doesn't say... heres 3 of the kavalactones. Needs expansion. --x1987x(talk) 04:40, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Probably "(+)-methysticin, (+)-dihydromethysticin, (+)-kavain, (+)-dihydrokavain, yangonin, and desmethoxyyangonin" (http://www.atypon-link.com/AOAC/doi/abs/10.5555/jaoi.2005.88.1.16?cookieSet=1&journalCode=jaoi). It'd be nice if someone knew what they did. On the main page desmethoxyyangonin is identified as a reversible mao-b inhibitor. I'd like to know what the other 5 do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.182.186.219 (talk) 08:01, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agree — I second the request. I came to this article specifically looking for a table of the main constituents and their properties — Wikipedia does that kind of thing so well in many other articles. Following the links to the Wiki page for each compound is great if you want the details, but laborious and confusing if you just wanted a comparative summary at a glance. The existing table is great, as a former chemist I appreciate the detail and the work put in, but it lacks just this one thing. Something brief, like "MAOI, dopamine agonist, stimulant" or "Main component, potentiates GABAA, anxiolytic", as appropriate, for each (main) constituent. I am not good at editing tables, so I hope someone may still be watching this page who is. D Anthony Patriarche (talk) 23:41, 28 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Last three chemical structures

[edit]

Looking at the last 3 structures of kavalactones, by their substitution there seems to be no difference between them...could there be a mistake here, or is there some sort of sterics thing I'm missing here? 71.198.247.119 17:14, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removed content

[edit]

Much of the content [that was] in this article needs to be reincorporated into the articles about the specific kavalactones referenced.    C M B J   03:03, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
