Is this name's origin Arabic or Hindustani? Some cursory Googling only turns up print references like A Dictionary of Hindustani and English. Nick Number (talk) 18:57, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Kashif (also spelled Kaashif, Kaşif, or Kashef, Arabic: کاشف‎‎) is an Arabic word, commonly used as a male given name in the Muslim world. Its meaning is close to the English words "revealer", "discoverer", "uncoverer" or "pioneer". Kashifiqbal549 (talk) 15:36, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Given name template

[edit]

@Xezbeth: What was the reason for this edit? The given name template documentation indicates that categories can be set with parameters. Is there a problem with this method? Nick Number (talk) 18:28, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't transclude Category:Given names and Category:Surnames, when it should. Template:Surname has the correct instruction and was also being omitted in this instance. Xezbeth (talk) 18:43, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok. The template documentation should be updated accordingly, if its behavior can't be fixed. Nick Number (talk) 19:20, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
