DOB and location

[edit]

@Ionmars10: Can you point out exactly where you are finding Jobst's DOB and location from his Twitter profile? I am not seeing it. – Pbrks (t  c) 01:18, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Both should be able to be found right under the bio, unless Twitter's been messing around with layout changes without my knowledge. Ionmars10 (talk) 01:21, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ionmars10: I've checked both on my desktop and mobile, and I see nothing about his age. When you say "should be", do you mean that you did not check? – Pbrks (t  c) 02:44, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I did check, on both desktop (specifically Firefox) and mobile (specifically Android), and "born February 7, 1986" is shown on both platforms. I have no idea why it's not showing up on your end. Ionmars10 (talk) 02:59, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I've determined that Karl set an option in his profile to only show his DOB if you're following him. I'm not really sure what this means for the usage of this as a source, since it's basically one step away from being public without technically being public. Ionmars10 (talk) 03:12, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ionmars10: Ah, you're right, I just followed him and I see his DOB. What a weird feature! – Pbrks (t  c) 04:35, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedrunning "career"

[edit]

Speedrunning is not an occupation. Orbovia (talk) 23:21, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Inane comment. Nothing is an occupation until you get paid to do it.

The Billy Mitchell section is a mess

[edit]

So Karl Jobst made 2 accusations against Billy: 1. Claims relating to Billy Mitchell's game scores, and 2. Claims blaming Billy Mitchell for Apollo Legend's suicide.

The court case only about the second accusation, but this article connects it with first accusation and makes it ambiguous what Karl started off being sued for and what Karl eventually lost.

The article would benefit substantially from making this more clear, possibly by aplittinf this into two subsections, one for each accusation, since they had very different legal trajectories. 2600:387:15:2912:0:0:0:B (talk) 09:09, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Updates

[edit]

@Masem: The article says Jobst set up a legal defence fund on GoFundMe to mitigate the financial damage to his family due to the lawsuit. As of August 2023, it has raised A$143,176.

That may or may not be true but it is April 2025 and it has reached 200,891 AUD. GoFundMe is on the spam blacklist but you can find it by searching for "gofundme Karl Jobst Legal Defence Fund"

It is probably also a good idea to add Jirard's response to the allegations. I don't think Jirard mounted a great defense, but it is worth including in my opinion. Polygnotus (talk) 22:43, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I do not like adding data like gofundme amounts or pageviews based only on the sourcing from the primary, and should release use in depend sources even if those end up out if date. Masem (t) 23:02, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Jobst's counterclaim against Mitchell (filed 8 April 2026)

[edit]

I've added a brief mention of it to the §Billy Mitchell section, but someone with legal expertise should look at Jobst's counterclaim , and cover it appropriately. Renerpho (talk) 22:46, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
