Local infobox vs. Wikidata infobox
[edit]@Justlettersandnumbers: As the local version of the infobox and the Wikidata version produce nearly identical results (compare this to this), why substitute the former for the latter? The ordinary reader will probably not even notice the difference, yet we've sacrificed a great deal of added functionality by downgrading to the manual version. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 05:14, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, Cl3phact0, how are you? So that messing about by bad actors on wikidata is not reflected – without our knowledge or control – in this project? Thanks for reverting the bad edits there relating to this page, but ... should we really need to switch to another project to make such a revert? I'm not sure what extra functions the wikidata version of the infobox has, but I am quite sure that the local one reflects about 20 years of editor consensus, which makes it hard for me to see why we might want to use something different. There's been some discussion of this matter quite recently, I don't this minute recall where, happy to try to track it down if this is important to you. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:55, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Well, thanks. You? Wikidata use in enwiki is clearly a subject that has divided editors (both recently and in the past), and this article is an interesting case in point. I've been looking at it and thinking about initiatives that might lead to positive outcomes (if you follow the links in the thread above, you will find some recent discussions). Template talk:Infobox person/Wikidata also has a fair bit of recent discussion and activity. It seems important to clarify these matters and tidy up our house, especially in light of the impact of LLMs on the project (and knowledge more broadly). Happy to discuss elsewhere too. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 09:23, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Let me know when you have arranged for us to host all images locally, so that messing about by bad actors on Wikimedia Commons is not reflected – without our knowledge or control – in this project. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:48, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: To be sure, do you mean to say that in a case like this we should not be using Template:Infobox person/Wikidata or links to the photographs on Commons at all, or just until these issues are resolved? (I'm obviously a proponent of Wikidata integration and improving understanding where possible.) Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 15:38, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I mean none of those things. I mean that using Wikidata is no more risk-inducing than using Commons. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:57, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- The previous two edits (this and this) are a good example of how issues on Commons can appear to be Wikidata problems, when in fact, the root cause lies elsewhere. As such, I've put the Wikidata version back (and left the commented out "manual" wikitext infobox for ease – if the problem persists). Let's stick with the Wikidata version (which otherwise seems to function well) as long as the issue can be easily managed. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:34, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: Unfortunately, there seems to be more messing about on both Commons (here) and Wikidata (starting here). This is all a bit above my level of competence and proficiency. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 20:18, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Facebook message
[edit]Somebody purporting to be the article subject, and in control of the subject's Facebook profile, has messaged me on that service, saying "I have tried to make some important changes on my Wikipedia page and they are refused". I won't be replying there - my talk page is available for anyone wanting to contact me.
Article subjects are reminded that they can make requests for changes on this page; or per the processes outlined in WP:About you, where additional advice may also be found.
Advice has also previously been given on User talk:Karim Rashid Inc, and at d:Wikidata:Project chat#Possible conflict of interest edits. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:02, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- Whoever messaged you could you try and ask him to provide a better photo for the article? Trade (talk) 02:24, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- They could also share a link to WP:PICYOU, which provides really useful information on how to do this! -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:38, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
PS: Images of the designer's work would be an improvement too. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:42, 15 May 2025 (UTC) "I won't be replying there"

I am executive of Beauty Express Group, which is professionally connected to Telosin. I am therefore disclosing my conflict of interest and requesting this change rather than editing the article directly.
Please consider adding the following text at the end of the “Career” section:
“Rashid designed Telosin Y Pro skin-treatment device and is identified as the creator of its industrial design under Hague International Registration No. DM/248976, held by Telosin Limited.
