[edit]If there is goiong to be only one article on "Kangchup" on Wikipedia, this can't be it. Kangchup is the of a hill, with a peak at 24°51′55″N 93°48′21″E / 24.8653°N 93.8057°E. There are more than half-a-dozen tribal villages along its foothills, all in Kangpokpi district, with probably 3,000–4,000 people. Kangchup Chingkhong and Kangchup Geljang are probably the most prominent of such villages. Small numbers of Meiteis that live in these villages seem to have formed a fictitious village called "Kangchup" in order to get affiliated with the Imphal West district. (This kind of game is played all over the foothills. See, for example, Torbung Bangla.)
If we are talk about the ethnic violence, displacement etc. in the Kangchup area, we have to talk about the tribals, who are by far the largest sufferers. Especially, the burning alive of boy Tongsing, his mother and aunt an ambulance, cannot be brushed under the carpet.

- I am still trying to find other sources for it. I have also seen across Kangchup Chingkhong and Kangchup Geljang and others, but thought that they were separate places because like how Torbung and Torbung Bangla separately exists. But thank you for letting me know about it. • Please tag/mention me to reply back -Victor Ningthemcha :) - talk 10:19, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Note that articles should not include hand-picked isolated incidents (see WP:BALASP). I removed the one you tagged for relevance for this reason. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 21:39, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
