Etymology vs. "Pseudo-Etymology"
[edit]The Turkish etymologic online dictionary nisanyansozluk clearly approves the Greek origin of kaldırım:
~ Yun kallidrómos καλλιδρόμος iyi yol (düzgün döşeli yol?) (loan word) Greek kallidrómos καλλιδρόμος best path (smoothly paved path?)

- You misread the text. What it actually says is:
- < TTü kaldır- +Im → kaldır-
- Not: Yun kalós drómos "iyi yol" deyimiyle irtibatlandırılması yakıştırmadır....
- That is, the main etymology is from Turkish kaldır- and then it notes that "it is said to be connected" to the Greek expression. --Macrakis (talk) 18:29, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- You misread the text. What it actually says is:

[edit]The Aradena kalderimi (cf. photo) is truly 2 to 3 m width. The kalderimi in the bottom of the Anopoli gorge must be some 4 m. I've never seen a kalerimi of only 1 m width; every mule would resist to use such a narrow passage. It's stupid to blame Rackham a "typo" on such elementary and obvious facts. --Gerd-HH (talk) 15:29, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
