I hate to be the bad guy but I do not see how this hook is interesting when I considered promoting it. Many hooks have the style, "that [person] had [job] before [job that made them famous]". This applies to almost everyone and is utterly unremarkable. Is there a connection between her work in the US Army and being a soccer player? It could be interesting that she did both at the same time or if there is another detail that should be mentioned. GGOTCC22:48, 25 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I also didn't find the approved phrasing intriguing (I find the "did you know someone had x job, then y job" bland), but I did like the idea that she was an optometrist before and after. How's this @Crisco 1492, GGOTCC, and 24Anonymous:ALT1: ... that Kailey Utley took a break from her optometry career to be a professional soccer player? Retirement news here, but it's a little OR-y since we have to rely on her optometry practice website page to note that she's resumed her career as an optometrist but I think that's much hookier than what was approved originally. Given that optometry, as with most medical professions, requires you to be older than physical prime for sports by the time schooling is done, I thought it was interesting on its own.
