Wikiproject Medicine Hematology-Oncolgy
[edit]Please somebody, add medical significance of KMT2A to this artice.
KMT2A is primarily known as a mutation causing aggressive leukemia. Diagnosing leukemia always includes checking for KMT2A rearrangement. Google-search "KMT2A rearrangement" (with quotes) produces over 26,000 results.
There is little doubt that the main reason people will search for KMT2A is because of it's significance in leukemia prognosis and treatment. Not because the average Wikipedia searcher is a molecular biologist.
Accordingly I have tagged this article for the Hematology-Oncology section of the Medicine wiki-project.There are MANY references, including gobs of medical articles. I think more helpful would be the many patient-oriented descriptions of KMT2A's significance, published by major research hospitals and cancer centers. I don't feel qualified to add the medical information to this article myself, and I'm not familiar with the workings of MEDRS.
I think the medical significance of KMT2A should be lede sentence and first section before the molecular biology parts of lede and body scare off anybody looking for what they want to know. -- M.boli (talk) 04:23, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
