Wonky Writing

While following some old vandal edits from an IP on a page in my scope of wiki stuff, I stumbled onto this series of edits. Too much has been done since for me to just revert and none of it is sourced. But I'm making an attempt write now to clean up some of the ick that guy left behind. I'm sure it needs way more attention but I'm not actually from the related area so I'm just cleaning up bad sentences as best I can. Someone fact check me and all of that. All good on this front! There are very minimal quotations which are short excerpts, attributed and relevant.

Prose

• Wikilink Nogales, Arizona and Tucson as their first mentions outside of the lead.
• For the sentence starting "The application brought protests from", I would remove the semi-colon and use a full stop.
• "In Tucson, IBC" – this abbreviation has not been mentioned before.
• The sentence starting "Programming began on February 1, 1967" uses a semi-colon when the next word of the following sentence is capitalised.
• The original name being KZAZ should be mentioned here.
• I would remove the parentheses on the last sentence of the second paragraph as unnecessary in that context.
• The appositive phrase for Gene Adelstein is quite long, perhaps it could be altered or added after the two individuals are mentioned in a second sentence?
• Mount Bigelow can be wikilinked.
• Wikilink University of Arizona and Fox in § KMSB.
• "studio were in ad sales" – I believe should be written in full as "advertising sales".
• "a deal completed on December 3, 2015" – I think you can remove the year here as it has already been mentioned, which you have done before.

• New enough (submitted within a day of GA) and more than long enough. Well sourced, neutrally written, and copyvio unlikely. QPQ is done. This leaves the hooks. ALT0 is interesting and verified. ALT1 is OK too, but the main problem is syntax – it is awkward and also a mouthful – and I'm not sure how to fix it (though someone else may have a solution). 1981 Star Trek marathon

KZAZ's 1981 Star Trek-marathon was the first such event in the country, with episodes handpicked by Gene Roddenberry himself, whom Gene Adelstein appears to have been close to. I think that deserves a mention. Renerpho (talk) 09:35, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
