Description of suggested change: This edit request series resolves some problems and dating issues that were pointed out by recent edits (see User talk:BILLinAZ). It also contains technical updates. Note that, while {{Text diff}} does not show them, there are new references in the source.

Infobox

A new tower was put into service on South Mountain this year. KAET filed on June 22 for the new final facility. There are updated coordinates, HAAT, and ERP. There is no need to change any references because {{Infobox television station}} automatically calls LMS.

Lead section

In 2022, ASU transferred operation of KAET from the Cronkite School to ASU Media Enterprise. (A citation for this is being added in another section.) I've also tightened the wording and specified that KAET is not seen statewide. (KUAT-TV serves southern and southeastern Arizona.)

Previously under the supervision of the ASU public affairs office, though with a close association with the Cronkite School, operational control of the station was transferred to Cronkite itself in 2014. KAET airs a ''Cronkite News'' newscast produced by journalism students on weeknights (along with occasional [[breaking news]] coverage), and Cronkite also houses the western bureau of the ''[[PBS NewsHour]]'', which opened in 2019.

In 2014, operation of Arizona PBS was transferred from the ASU public affairs office to the Cronkite School itself. During this time, KAET aired ''Cronkite News'', a student-produced newscast, on its main channel. In 2019, the Cronkite School became home to the western bureau for the ''[[PBS News Hour]]''. Cronkite students worked with PBS News Hour staff at the bureau, which provided updates and digital media coverage. [[Stephanie Sy]], a ''News Hour'' correspondent, anchored the western updates.

In 2020, the roles of dean of the Cronkite School and president of Arizona PBS were split; Arizona PBS itself was separated from the Cronkite School in 2022 and moved under ASU's Media Enterprise. The next year, the broadcast of ''Cronkite News'' was moved to KAET's 8.2 subchannel. Following [[Rescissions Act of 2025|Congressional rescission of federal funding for public broadcasting]], in 2025 PBS News Hour West was discontinued when ASU opted not to renew its contract. However, sources affiliated with ASU claimed that it was PBS's decision to shut the program down in the middle of the school year and not continue it through June 2026.

There is a fair bit of ambiguity, which the news articles hint at, as to who caused the termination of the News Hour West arrangement.

The list entry for K03FB-D should be updated to reflect a change in channel, call sign, and community of license (it serves much the same area). The facility ID did not change.
