Date of Birth

[edit]

The naturalization document of Wilhelm Smerth, from 1917, gives her name as June and dob as 28 January 1902. It also says immigration was 1907, but this must have been his separate immigration, as the immigration record for June, her mother and her siblings is dated 8 July 1908.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.74.134.42 (talk) 16:24, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

That "later life " bit is the saddest fucking thing I've ever read... Maybe not, the end of "1984" is vomit-inducing sad, but still...shit... 79.72.221.160 (talk) 23:06, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's always seemed to me that the life of a former muse, in old age, is usually worse than tough. Examples would be Kiki of Montparnasse and Fernande Olivier, Picasso's early love. The artist's work fattens on the life of the muse when young, and later he's "shocked at her deterioration." I wonder what Henry Miller looked like at that point? The muses who end up with happy or at least satisfying later lives are the ones with their own skills: Martha Gellhorn, serious and gutsy writer; Lee Miller, photographer; Charis Wilson (Edward Weston's wife, who divorced him), photographer and memoirist.
