Incorporation of IBM

[edit]

An IP added the founding of IBM, but this was reverted as non-notable. Looking at the other events listed in the 1903 - 1925 range, I suggest that the event is easily notable enough to be listed here. -- John of Reading (talk) 10:29, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

There isn't anything specifically notable about the founding of a company that impacts the world. It's really just a bare fact. Items are evaluated individually, usually immediately after they're added, and aren't compared to others in the list at the time. There are many events on the date pages that shouldn't be there, but the new ones get noticed first. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 10:38, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the explanation. I just happen to have this one watchlisted after some vandalism. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:41, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I looked around for other well-known brands, McDonald's, The Coca-Cola Company and Microsoft, to be specific, and those that had specific dates listed for their founding are listed in the events sections for their respective founding dates. When the company itself impacts the world to such a large degree, then its founding is a notable event. Mike padilla (talk) 21:26, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

There are a lot of events listed that shouldn't be. We can't notice them all. The fact that you see them elsewhere is not an endorsement that they should be there. My statement above still applies. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 23:16, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, I would agree that the founding of IBM is indeed a notable event, as is McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Microsoft. It appears that there is a consensus to this effect. Srobak (talk) 07:14, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is this really a person of note? I removed a nonsense edit from the same IP address, made to January 17, and I'm thinking this one is a vanity entry. TJSwoboda (talk)

There is a case for having them on the same line. Jackiespeel (talk) 09:42, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

1956

[edit]

Sadly, there are no notable births for this year, and it is feeling left out. However, my birthday is June 16 1956 ???? -Roxy the dog. bark 17:47, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
