Zathura

Alright, since apparently people aren't listening, I'm taking it here. Zathura, the book, is the sequel to Jumanji, the book. This is not debatable, and even its Wikipedia article states this. Jumanji is first and foremost a book, not a movie. Whatever the director of the Zathura movie thinks of the Jumanji movie is completely irrelevant. The movie is stand-alone, but it's still an adaptation of the sequel to Jumanji. It makes absolutely no sense to exclude a sequel in a franchise that this is a sequel to. I don't know how many times I need to state this. Zathura belongs in this page because Zathura is the sequel to Jumanji. The movies are stand-alone adaptations, but the books (which the movies are based on) are connected, and are therefore part of the same franchise. 198.209.164.83 (talk) 17:20, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

@Cineplex: It takes place in the same universe and is a sequel and is therefore included in the franchise see example at Law & Order (franchise) other shows that aren't exclusively a Law & Order show are still mentioned and included. TheDoctorWho (talk) 01:01, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@TheDoctorWho: Oh no no no no no! Zathura the movie does not take place in the same universe as the two Jumanji movies. Therefore, its should be mentioned as a "related film" or "film with a similar concept". Better yet, don't mention it at all. Also, all those Law & Order shows are spin-offs set in the same universe with "Law & Order" in the titles. So, of course they deserve to be mentioned and included. (talk) 12:01 AM, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@Cineplex: This page describes Zathura as Brothers Danny and Walter, neighbors of Peter and Judy from the previous book, find Jumanji but ultimately choose not to play it. Instead, they find a similar game with a space theme, "Zathura" specifically the part that says "next door neighbors" and "find Jumanji" connects the two movies and therefore making it in the universe. We're not just looking at what happens in the games but also what happens outside. TheDoctorWho (talk) 13:02, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@Cineplex: The book is a sequel to the the Jumanji novel so a film adaption to a novel makes it in the same franchise. Another example is The Giver Quartet where the second book has little to no relation to the original book but the second is still included. TheDoctorWho (talk) 22:26, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@Cineplex: / @TheDoctorWho: - this topic has been discussed at great length before. The consensus came about because the film studio marketed Zathura as "from the world of Jumanji" and a number of other variations of that log-line. Cast Chart corrections

I changed the title of this section, because I had another correction I wanted to open up to discussion, in the same vein.

Martha/Ruby in the chart

I get that the casting issues are made even more complex because (as far as we know) the only avatar tied to the same real-life character in "The Next Level" is Ruby/Martha. But I still think the change (from a few weeks ago) of merging the Ruby and Martha lines in the chart, is confusing and misleading. By all rights, Kevin Hart also played the character of Fridge just as Nick Jonas also played the character of Alex. But their avatars and IRL characters are still listed as separate entities in the chart, for clarity if nothing else. So, I think Martha and Ruby's lines should be separated again. But I didn't want to backpedal on that without allowing others to weigh in. Thoughts? CleverTitania (talk) 07:52, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

Mr. Vreeke/Jogger

The charts lists Sean Buxton as playing the younger Mr. Vreeke. But he is listed as "Jogger" in the end-credits and his face is never seen on camera, other than a momentary glimpse of his chin and lips when he bends down to pick up the game. And in the voice over of Alex's father giving him the game, I'm pretty sure it's Matheson's voice, not Buxton's. We don't even know that the jogger is Mr. Vreeke, and not a friend or relative who jogged to the house - though obviously that it's him is heavily implied. But Buxton is effectively just Tim Matheson's body double for two shots, so it is appropriate to list him as playing the younger version of the character? Change to the article title...maybe?

Here's an interesting advertisement doing its rounds on social media. It is produced by Paramount, and comes off of Jumanji's page. In the video it calls the franchise "the Jumanji Cinematic Universe". While this may be a marketing video, it may become an official title...or perhaps already is(?). Jumanji: Level One

Either it is a vandalism in imdb, or there is some unlicensed production. There is an entry "Jumanji: Level One" in imdb. imdb is not a reliable source , but is this title notable to mention ? Matthew hk (talk) 16:28, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

PostTrak

If PostTrak "overall recommend" is only available for one film then no useful comparison can be made. Perhaps it would bet better if this encyclopedia article did not include any PostTrak scores at all?
