What are the current scoring rules?

The section about Competion scoring says: "Two scores of waza-ari equal an ippon waza-ari awasete ippon. This rule was cancelled in 2017, but it was resumed in 2018." And then, in the next paragraph: "The International Judo Federation recently announced changes in evaluation of points. There will only be ippon and waza-ari scores given during a match with yuko scores now included within waza-ari. Multiple waza-ari scores are no longer converted into ippon scores.[66]", where the link leads to a 2016 document (which just shows the phrase "recently" should be banned on Wikipedia).

So, what are the current rules? Do we have yukos? Are two waza-aris converted to an ippon? The current section is very confusing, and removing it would increase the quality of the article. 62.216.5.216 (talk) 15:09, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

The more important element is they have removed morote gari which was an important Kodokan throw as it can be used easily aginst much larger opponents and invaluable for self defence. Personally I would also reallow the relatively safe straight achilles leg lock so the Judoka become aware of the need to consider defence of their legs in newaza. Throws

I modified the aim of Judo throws to ideally to throw Uke hard onto their back (this incapacitates perhaps without the need of Newaza) unlike BJJ or Catch Wrstling which simply wish to take someone to the floor for groundwork / submission. Alternative and derivative styles

This is getting out of hand... Most of the supposed styles are just Judo... I would suggest that we only list variants that are recognized as sufficiently different from traditional Judo to merit their own wikipedia article.

"Cuban Judo is characterized by an explosive and high athletic style that puts an emphasis on body conditioning and calculated planning mixed with raw power. In terms of training the athletes use a particularly methodical and intellectual approach to the sport." That describes nothing that is different from traditional Judo.

"Korean Judo is also very technical but what really separates it from other styles is the speed at which its techniques are performed. Korean Judo it is not powerful in terms of using strength but instead, the practitioners use speed, movement and technique in order to create fast and powerful snaps." That's just Judo.

"French Judo is based on tactical Kumi Kata and focuses on breaking the posture of the opponent as well as preventing opponents from attaining a proper grip. This style does not use a huge amount of power; it prefers to use technique, tactics and timing." That's just Judo.

I would remove everything other than Sambo, BJJ and Kosen Judo (again, just judo with a rules change, but a mythology has been fostered in the West that would help it pass WP:GNG
