Add factual information to my Judd Hamilton Wikipedia page.

[edit]

This evening I have once again repeatedly tried to honestly and factually add an important update to my Wikipedia page. In the process I began communicating with someone on the talk page stating I am not correctly adding said information. Not being adapt at computer stuff as an 83 yr. old visually disabled person simply wanting the truth of my patent awarded invention efforts (https://patents.justia.com/inventor/judd-hamilton) to also be added to my music / film making efforts. Invention information I have previously tried to add and had rejected as being promotional. Which it is not and instead simply factual and truthful. While for someone not being a computer expert the process explained on the help page which I've tried to follow is way more than complicated. So if someone who can help is reading this I'm hoping you can and will inform me using this Judd Hamilton user page how I can add this truthful information. In the meantime, I have applied and waiting to have an updated Wikipedia user identity, which may help, I hope. Judd Hamilton ~~~~ 91.191.218.4 (talk) 10:31, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

While we have no reason to doubt your honesty, people do try to add spoof information to Wikipedia. That is why we insist on having reliable sources for (almost) everything added to Wikipedia, especially about living people. as you are the article subject, that protects you. You may find the additional advice at WP:About you helpful.
Meanwhile I will take a look at what you tried to add. Bear with me. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:45, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing: I'm also looking into this right now. I think the only way we could possibly source this information is using this as WP:ABOUTSELF... Found no real coverage about it, not even in Newspapers.com. -- MediaKyle (talk) 10:51, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
The source was in the reverted edit. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:53, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
The existing source (which I originally removed) did not cover all of the associated claims, and still does not establish any connection between the musician and the patent holder. This would not have been the first time I've seen a COI editor adding promotional material to an article about an unrelated person who happens to have the same name. As I explained on the user's talk page, the content could be used provided the claims were sourced, the connection between the between the musician and the patent holder was shown, and the material was written neutrally. MediaKyle's new source seems acceptable under WP:ABOUTSELF. I will add it. Meters (talk) 19:25, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
