Adding the section, "Copyright and Fair Use"

I have added this section to the Wikipedia Journalism entry because copyright and fair use are important guidelines to follow when pursuing journalism. People who want to pursue a career in journalism should be made aware of copyright laws and what fair use means. It is important to note about fair use that many journalists are protected under fair use but they still need to understand what copyright laws mean, how they work, and what they, as a journalist, can do to follow those laws. Though many journalists are protected under fair use and the First Amendment, there are things that are not covered by fair use and it is often up to the court system about whether or not a journalists work can/will be considered fair use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eahazellief (talk • contribs) 17:37 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Journalism is not just about news

 Not done, the 2014 study, Hefflin 2015, is a peer-reviewed study, whereas the new source you provide here is a public survey. Gallup is a reputable publisher of surveys, but survey results don't supersede peer-reviewed scholarship, especially when they report a "new low" (28% expressing high confidence) that is higher than the level of trust reported in Hefflin (22% expressing high confidence). There's probably a good way to incorporate the Gallup survey into the article, but replacing the Hefflin 2015 isn't it. _signed, Rosguill ^talk 17:32, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
