He died of a shoulder carbuncle, contrary to the popular belief that he died under the guillotine.

Yes, and Dr Guillotine invented the guillotine, Dr Gattling invented the machine-gun, and Dr Morgan became a pirate.
That's from memory but I think it's fairly accurate... the order of Gattling and Guillotine may be wrong, but Morgan comes last for its comic effect.
Anyway, if accurately sourced and to the specific book, that quote would be a good addition to this article IMO, as a specific example of the error that Dr Guillotine invented the guillotine. Andrewa (talk) 16:49, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
