Corrected undocumented addition (18 April 2017) that PE went out of business because of trains. PE closed 2 days after transcontinental telegraph was completed and first messages sent. PE weight limit was 20 pounds total for mail, was a message service, not a freight service; Transcontinental RR was completed in 1869. Well documented (elsewhere).
