Written like a resume?

Also known as vs Known professionally as

@FilthonAcidtech: reverted a change in the lead from "John Walter Schuster (born July 29, 1994), known professionally as John Summit…" to "John Walter Schuster (born July 29, 1994), also known as John Summit…" I feel that this change is inappropriate, since Summit is not frequently known by his legal name to the public. According to WP:Stagename "The name used most often to refer to a person in reliable sources is generally the one that should be used as the article title, even if it is not the person's "real" name, and even if it appears to pass judgement on the person (as with Alfred the Great)." Therefore I propose that the lead be rewritten to refer to him exclusively as John Summit, with his legal name given in the biography section. As this accords with the policy linked above, I will make this change unless a consensus is formed against it in the near future. Wynneplaga (talk) 18:36, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Looking into the matter further, MOS:LEGALNAME prescribes: "For people who are best known by a pseudonym, the legal name should usually appear first in the article, followed closely by the pseudonym. Follow this practice even if the article itself is titled with the pseudonym:

Louis Bert Lindley Jr. (June 29, 1919 – December 8, 1983), better known by the stage name Slim Pickens"

In according with this guidance, I withdraw my above proposal, and instead return to suggesting "known professionally as", or alternatively "known by the stage name". "Also known as" inaccurately suggests his stage name is less or at most equally well known as his obscure legal name. Wynneplaga (talk) 20:39, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Ethnicity

I just removed the statement that he was "raised Jewish." There is no evidence for this that I can find, and he has stated specifically that he is not Jewish. (There must have been a rumor or incorrect reporting that he was. Maybe someone assumed so because of his Germanic birth name of Schuster.) The only thing I can find referencing his ethnic background is his reference to "German roots" PSPazW (talk) 20:25, 22 May 2026 (UTC)

Violation of MOS:LEGALNAME

On June 5 and July 2, FilthonAcidtech applied the same edit which was contrary to MOS:LEGALNAME which clearly states:

"Investigation in reliable sources may be needed to determine whether a subject known usually by a pseudonym has actually changed their legal name to match (e.g., Reginald Kenneth Dwight formally changed his name to Elton Hercules John early in his musical career). Where this is not the case, and where the subject uses a popular form of their name in everyday life, then care must be taken to avoid implying that a person who does not generally use all their forenames or who uses a familiar form has actually changed their name. Do not write, for example:

John Edwards (born Johnny Reid Edwards, June 10, 1953)."

On both occasions FilthonAcidtech gave totally incomplete edit summaries, in the second case giving an entirely fictitious edit summary.

On the first occasion, my revert message stated "Please see the talk page before re-editing." No such engagement in the talk page took place.

I will kindly ask FilthonAcidtech to desist from making edits which are contrary to policy, from making fictitious edit summaries, and from failing to engage with requests for discussion.
