John was a guest on the Ontario based program Saturday Night at the Movies with Elwy Yost around 1982. John mentioned that his favorite actor was Peter Sellers. birthplace incorrect

I found this source stating that Candy was born in Toronto and was raised in "the city's East York neighborhood," which is most likely referencing Newmarket. I think we should change his birthplace to Toronto. Iamreallygoodatcheckers (talk) 09:58, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Genetic History Contradiction

In the death section it says his children say he was unaware of his family's genetic history. Two sentences later the article says he dieted and exercised because of his family history. Which one is it? -WarthogDemon 20:50, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Poor picture

Probably the worst photo that is supposed to represent a person on wikipedia I have seen. Unfortunately, I realize finding a free use image is difficult, but I think no photo would be better than this, what totally does not represent him visually. Imagine if Gary Oldman had no free use image besides an image of himself in his role for Churchill. That, in my mind, would be as representative of Gary Oldman, as this would be of John Candy to the point where no picture at all would be better than something that misleads his physical appearance. ~2025-42876-40 (talk) 04:54, 25 December 2025 (UTC)

I would suggest this is a case where it would be beneficial to use a Non-free image of John Candy for identification purposes as I have long thought and agree with the above comments that the current image is not representative of how he is commonly recognized, and his face is almost 100% covered by beard and glasses and viewed from the side that it is useless for identification anyway.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 11:53, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Based on the recent edit, I'd like to revive this. We do need a better main image as the one we have is not how anyone would think of John Candy in terms of appearance. The one other free image we have, of Candy with Dan Aykroyd, is of poor quality, probably just due to age. I did try to contact his daughter through social media but got no response. Double talk stupidly

How can you say his children claim he was unaware of the genetic history yet just a few sentences later state he worked out with trainers because of his family health history? Wiki writers are left leaning biased idiots (not hard to see that) who claim to be journalists??? "Expletive"

In the third paragraph of the subsection John Hughes films and final roles, it says Candy exclaimed "Who the (expletive) does she think she is?" Do we know what word he said? I read somewhere that in "John Candy's Last Stand: Ted Mico's Story" it confirms that the word he used was "fuck". I don't have access to the book currently, but can someone confirm this?
