Edit request: Supreme Court retirement date
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
I am a paid editor for Vizlegal (disclosed on my user page), so I'm requesting this rather than making it.
The infobox says Blayney left the Supreme Court on 21 March 1997, with no source. A Dáil written answer of 4 March 2008, listing retired Supreme Court judges and their retirement dates, gives "John Joseph Blayney 14/03/1997".
Please change term_end = 21 March 1997 → term_end = 14 March 1997.

Done used a different source that provides confirmation of this a lot more easily. LateFatherKarma (talk) 14:13, 27 September 2026 (UTC)

The infobox gives his High Court appointment as 24 July 1973, and the lead says he was a High Court judge "from 1973 to 1992". That can't be right: The Irish Times obituary (already cited in the article for his date of birth) says he became a senior counsel after Fine Gael returned to government in 1973, and was expected to get a High Court judgeship in the 1980s, but "he was not appointed until 1986".[1] 24 July 1973 may be the date he took silk. I couldn't find an official notice online that gives the exact day in 1986.
Please change term_start1 = 24 July 1973 → term_start1 = 1986 (and the nominator for that office, if it refers to the 1973 government), and "from 1973 to 1992" → "from 1986 to 1992" in the lead, citing the obituary (<ref name="IT obit 2018" />).
