March of the Mods and The Stripper
[edit]The section headed "The Joe Loss Orchestra" is slightly misleading insofar as it suggests that March of the Mods and The Stripper were 1940's hits for the band. The Stripper is a David Rose 1958 composition and March of the Mods (or "The Finnjenka Dance") dates from 1964. I will edit the page accordingly. JohnB57 (talk) 17:24, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
I don’t think he was a ‘sir’
[edit]I know he was given some awards etc. But I’m pretty sure I’d know if he was a ‘sir’ - I’m his Grandson, I’m not relying on any concrete sources. Jjankel (talk) 22:14, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- I was surprised to read this myself. I think you’re right, and the confusion has arisen because Joe was awarded the LVO (Lieutenant Victorian Order) in 1984. There is a knight grade for this honour, which would be GCVO or KCVO. The article about this honour says “The Royal Victorian Order (French: Ordre royal de Victoria) is a dynastic order of knighthood”. That may be why the “Sir” was added, but I don’t think it should be here, so I will remove it. Nice to see you here, by the way! TrottieTrue (talk) 01:02, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
