Tabloid sourcing

Guidelines at WP:BLP state: "Be very firm about the use of high-quality, reliable sources."

The Daily Record is a tabloid newspaper based in Glasgow which engages in some tabloid journalism. The Daily Record uses some "highly sensationalised headlines". In October 2017 the Daily Record was fined £80,000 for contempt of court in two newspaper reports. One of these two articles had photographs of a person published in what was described by the High Court of Justiciary as a "sensational" article using phrases such as "gang boss", "cocaine kingpin" and "cocaine baron".^[1]

This is a clear indication that the Daily Record has published some sensational tabloid journalism. The Daily Record may be reliable for most basic facts and it could be used in an article for general facts about, for example, companies such as Tesco and Sainsbury's, but that does not mean it is a first-rate source for a WP:BLP which requires sources to be of high quality.
