Confusion with James Allen?

[edit]

Per WP:HATNOT, we should use hatnotes only if there is a reasonable possibility of a reader arriving at the article either by mistake or with another topic in mind.

We have literally thousands of articles on people called James, Jim or Jimmy.

There is no reason why a reader searching for James Allen will go to the search box and type "Jimmy Broadbent", that does not equally apply to every other one of the articles on people named James, Jim or Jimmy. If we accept the logic that sees this included, every article on somebody called James, Jim or Jimmy should start with a full list of articles on people called James, Jim or Jimmy, which would be patently absurd.

I have therefore removed the hatnote pointing to James Allen. Kahastok talk 18:57, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
