Conflict of interest disclosure

[edit]

I am Jeremy Deputat, the subject of this article. I am disclosing my conflict of interest and will use this talk page to request substantive changes rather than editing the biography directly. 310Auditor (talk) 00:11, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

COI edit request: biography update and BLP changes

[edit]

I am Jeremy Deputat, the subject of this article, and I have disclosed my conflict of interest above. I am requesting that an uninvolved editor review a proposed update to the biography rather than making substantive edits to the article myself.

The current article is substantially outdated and is largely structured around older client and publication lists. I would like to propose a more conventional biographical structure based primarily on independent published sources, including W, WDIV/ClickOnDetroit, Hypebeast, Metro Times, Billboard, and Time Out Chicago.

My current professional title is Creative Director and Photographer. I recognize that the strongest independent historical coverage primarily describes me as a photographer and art director, while my current Creative Director designation is documented principally by current professional/affiliated sources. I have therefore preserved the historically sourced art-direction background in the Career section while proposing that the lead and infobox reflect my current occupation. I defer to uninvolved editors regarding whether the sourcing is sufficient for that wording.

I am also requesting two BLP-related changes:

 1. Please remove my date of birth and birth year from the article, infobox, and associated birth-year category. As the subject of this living-person biography, I object to publication of this personal information and ask that editors consider the privacy guidance at WP:DOB.
 2. Please remove the current photograph from the article's infobox without replacing it. I am not requesting deletion of the underlying Wikimedia Commons file.

Below is my proposed replacement text for review.

Jeremy "JD" Deputat is an American creative director and photographer from Detroit, Michigan. He is known for portrait and music photography, including work with Eminem and Kid Rock.

Career
Deputat began taking photographs while working as an art director at the Detroit alternative weekly Real Detroit Weekly. According to W, he began shooting around 2003 after encountering limitations in the photography available for the publication, and left the publication in 2009 to pursue photography full time. WDIV's ClickOnDetroit similarly reported that Deputat began at Real Detroit Weekly in the early 2000s and moved from editorial art direction into photography.

His early photography career became closely associated with music. Hypebeast profiled Deputat in 2013, describing his work with musicians including Eminem and Kid Rock. He photographed Eminem for the cover of the November 9, 2013 issue of Billboard.

In 2011, Deputat accompanied Kid Rock's Born Free tour and photographed the musician on and off stage. The resulting photographs became the 2013 book I'm Kid Rock, What's Your Excuse?, a 176-page collection documenting the tour.

In 2017, Deputat contributed photography to Artifacts, a project curated by Carleton Gholz examining Detroit music history through objects associated with the city's musical culture.

That November, Deputat and photographer Jason Peterson led a Music + Photo Master Class as part of Red Bull Sound Select's 30 Days in Chicago. Time Out Chicago described the event as a workshop on music and concert photography.

I have intentionally omitted projects and professional claims for which I could not identify sufficiently strong independent sourcing. I am happy to answer factual questions, but I defer to uninvolved editors regarding wording, source weight, and what ultimately belongs in the article. Thank you for reviewing the request. 310Auditor (talk) 00:16, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
