"Is" versus "was"

[edit]

With regards to this revert.

When a person dies, it is standard procedure to change the "is" in the lead to a "was". The "was" on this article isn't in reference to the roles he is known for but for the state of his existence. Jeff Conaway "was" an actor - he can't be one anymore because he is deceased, so "is" is incorrect. I added the comma in my edit to differentiate between his life and his roles. Though his drug use did not cause his pneumonia, it hampered Conaway's ability to recognize how severely ill he was; he did not seek treatment until it was too late.[12]

[edit]

I don't believe it's fair to include the subject paragraph in Mr. Conaway's Death section and feel it should be removed. Why is the paragraph even included? His drug use potentially had nothing to do with his ability to recognize how ill he was. In 2021,I had pneumonia and sepsis, but didn't realize how ill I was. In fact, the day I had a follow-up appt with my surgeon, he released me as being healthy, but I was rushed by ambulance to an Emergency Room only hours after that appointment. I remained hospitalized and in skilled nursing for the next 3 months. I do not remember the appointment or the next 3 days in the hospital. My brain was severely impacted by very low oxygen levels. This was probably true for Mr. Conway too. Thank you. LeeLee3555 (talk) 19:33, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
