"Countship"

[edit]

Is there any reason this article is using the rather dated term "countship" rather than "county"? I would just change it, but not sure if it's part of a larger series that it'd be good to maintain consistency with. MatthewWilkes (talk) 11:48, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

– The brand of cheese attracts about 90% of the readership interest between it and the historical countship abolished in 1893 and its manor put together, as shown here. Perhaps the cheese brand should even be considered a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and simply moved to Jarlsberg, but it was only created in 1956 (and the Jarlsberg name for it seems to only date to 1972), so it may have less historical significance. I do believe the cheese is primarily called just "Jarlsberg" rather than "Jarlsberg cheese". Its label certainly doesn't say "Jarlsberg cheese", so "cheese" is only being included for purposes of disambiguation. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:48, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, seems reasonable, the stats are similar to a discussion at Talk:Taleggio cheese. --Joy (talk) 09:37, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
