I am Jane South, the subject of this article, and am therefore disclosing a conflict of interest. I am requesting the following corrections and additions:
1. In the “Works” section, please replace:
“South is the recipient of ai a 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship,[9] Brown/RISD Mellon Foundation Fellowship (2015);[10] Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant (2009).[11]”
with:
“South is the recipient of a 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship,[9] a Brown/RISD Mellon Foundation Fellowship (2015),[10] and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant (2009).[11]”
This corrects the typographical error “ai a” and standardizes the punctuation.
2. Please remove this sentence from the end of the “Works” section:
“In 2019 She was elected to the National Academy of Design.”
The same information already appears in the “Career” section, so this sentence is duplicative.
3. Please add the following exhibitions to the top of the “Selected solo exhibitions” list, in reverse chronological order:
- Outermost, 2026, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York
- Front Room: Jane South, 2024, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York
- Halfway Off, 2023, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York
