Sources and Gaps
[edit]Looking at the War time text a lot of this seems to have come from "The Surreys in Italy" the story of the East Surrey Regiment in Italy 1943-45. Published in 1992 by the Museum of the Queens Royal Surrey Regiment. It has left a huge gap from the 1 Battallion's involvement in the landings in Sicily in July 1943, through its switch to the Aegean front in Italy, its miserable winter in the mountains, its switch to the Cassino front and the four battles there and then up towards Rome when it was finally rested in July 1944 and sent to Egypt returning to Italy in September 1944. Impartiality (NPOV)?
[edit]I do have some minor concerns about statements such as "Tall and confident, with perfect manners, Saunders led the bank through these events with a calming hand" - at the very least a statement such as this ought to be referenced. And I too share some concerns about the extensive military history in this article. Yes, he was a decorated soldier in WW2, but, as implied in the above comment, surely the article could have simply mentioned the details and locations of his service, and how he was decorated.
