"His strong hit record in 1968 earned him the nickname "Dead-Eye" Gibbs." I checked the record, and in 1968 Gibbs hit .213 and slugged .277. That's bad, even given that 1968 was a low-offense season. Was this supposed to be a whimsical statement for which I missed the irony? WHPratt (talk) 16:38, 23 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

That's better. The guy was a good athlete (football star as well). He came up as an infielder and was then sent back to be converted (successfully) to catching. No need, however, to exaggerate his hitting record that year! WHPratt (talk) 15:39, 24 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
