The intro comes across quite oddly in that it seems to date back to about the time of Luke Jackson's early writing - a baby born then would be an adult now, so the "boy" and "girl" references are somewhat outdated. The question is what to describe her status now, since Luke's later book told us there's another child, his half-sibling, meaning she probably is no longer a "single mother" anyway - however, that's not relevant to her public status in relation to neurodiversity. At this point, my intention would be to leave that out, but make clear that her single mother status is a background to her writing rather than a status at the time the article is being read.
