Child actor in lede

[edit]

First major role was in the film Duress at aged 8 or 9, and more roles before aged 13, so definitely started as a "child actor". That needs to be reflected in the lede. An example on how to handle this is Joshua Rush. See also, this discussion.

Note that it's been on my radar to revise/update the lede on this one, as per Joshua Rush. But there is nothing preventing another editor like Jjj1238 from "fixing" this either. But it needs to be in the lede one way or the other, and just can't be removed. --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:40, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

It is honestly quite absurd and a little disrespectful to only refer to him as a child actor in my opinion. While he may have been in the past, he certainly is not anymore and his acting credits reflect that. This is not a precedent on any other Wikipedia article :I've seen. My proposal was (and still is):

Jacob Bertrand (born March 6, 2000) is an American actor. Beginning his career as a child actor, Bertrand is known for...

Similar to how this issue has been handled on other articles of actors who started as child actors. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 00:55, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
You are both agreeing to this. WP:DOIT. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:10, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's fine as a start. I generally prefer something along the lines of Beginning his career as a child actor in roles such as in the film Duress and in guest roles on television series such as The Cape and The Middle..., but if you make this change now, it can always be tweaked later... --IJBall (contribstalk) 02:30, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Adding other projects

[edit]

I know Bertrand did a short film. I found the link on his official Instagram page, wasn’t sure if it was worth noting.

Thanks for dealing with me! Accuratelyadjusting (talk) 05:28, 17 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Short films are generally not important works, and not worth mentioning. Only exceptions are those that garner significant secondary coverage, or actually win a meaningful award. Otherwise, they're like commercials – not worth mentioning if there's no secondary coverage about it. --IJBall (contribstalk) 06:17, 17 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

New infobox image

[edit]

The current image in the infobox is around 10 years old, so I believe it should be replaced with something more up to date. I was thinking of something like this one, but the last time I made an edit, it was reverted after seven hours. TaurusEmerald (talk) 05:42, 5 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I agree. I like the photo you chose. I also tried to change the 10-year-old image and it was reverted. Reportersteven (talk) 03:05, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. I did the same thing to upgrade his profile, but it got reverted back to where it is currently. His profile picture needs an upgrade to the 2024 pic. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jacob_Bertrand_(54213755073).jpg Seb-the-professional-editior (talk) 09:54, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I made the change you suggested that I agree with. I first left a comment on the talk page of @User:Amaury but they didn’t respond. I invite them to come on over and explain why the photo should not be changed. Bertrand is obviously much older now and looks different compared to the current photo on the page. Reportersteven (talk) 02:53, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
User:Amaury Is there a reason you’re refusing to come to the talk page and talk and just keep rolling back changes and talking in the reversion? I am in good faith trying to reach a consensus here? Why would you want to keep such an old photo from 2014? Reportersteven (talk) 16:09, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Instead of participating here, the editor is telling people to “piss off.” I’m just documenting this because at some point I’d like to get another editor/admin involved here. Reportersteven (talk) 19:13, 17 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Twice I also invited the editor to come to the talk page and without replying or coming here, they removed my invites as “nonsense.” Just documenting in case it’s needed. Reportersteven (talk) 22:41, 17 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree as well. If we have a newer image in the commons, let's use it. @User:Amaury you need to participate in here before reverting again.

Don't see the issue in adding an up to date image. Amaury has had a patteren of not responding to discussions after reverting or communicating at all. If this continues I would open a Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentsMagical Golden Whip (talk) 15:31, 20 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
