b.o.d. replicas

[edit]

I have two tokai "jaco" basses, which first appeared in their catalogue in 1981, while JP was still alive. fender's tribute was long after he died. anyone care to speculate as to why this might have been? also, rob trujillo has had the thing "restored" & it is unrecognisable. :-(

oh, & also... if we're going to quote a tidbit from a book about jaco lobbing 'the' bass into hiroshima bay in a fit of pique, can we finish the story please?
was it the b.o.d. or some other instrument? was it retrieved or retired?

Jaco's name

[edit]

Not sure this belongs in here, but Jaco was of Finnish descent from his mother's side. In Finland the equivalent to Jack or Jacob (which is related to John) is Jaakko: [], a rather common male name. If there was someone in his ancestry who spoke Finnish the name Jaakko could have originated from there, like grandmother using a Finnish pet name. Didn't find much speculation to this direction from anywhere online except one ancient Finnish chat website message.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.115.101.115 (talk) 11:38, 17 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Felix

[edit]

Why no mention of his son Felix, who has become a virtuoso bassist and bandleader? https://jazztimes.com/features/profiles/felix-pastorius-next-in-the-continuum/ Haslinger1999 (talk) 04:49, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
