Removal of Image of Mid-Thigh Jackboots
[edit]I have removed the image "File:ExtraTalla.jpg|thumb|Leather jackboots for work" because it is not strictly a Jackboot of either variety discussed in the article. It may well be a specialist work boot of some description, and could no doubt find a place in a more appropriate article, see Boot for a list of other boot styles requiring photos. This is not a marching boot, which is essentially what a Jackboot, second meaning, is all about.(Lobsterthermidor (talk) 15:36, 18 October 2010 (UTC))
Alternative etymology/usage
[edit]Although it would appear to be erroneous, it is somewhat commonly thought, at least in the US, that the name 'Jack', is due to the boots requiring a boot jack, as compared to laced boots, or 'cowboy' boots that can be removed somewhat easily without one. I have even heard salespersons in boot specialty stores state that this is what 'jackboot' means.
Spanish expression
[edit]"The Spanish expression "tener (algo o alguien) bajo la bota"[citation needed] or "to have (something or somebody) under the boot" has the same meaning" Not in Spain.
