COI edit request: proposed rewrite to resolve the August 2014 BLP sources banner

I am the subject of this article (disclosed on my user page), so I am requesting review rather than editing directly. The article has carried a {{BLP sources}} banner since August 2014; it currently cites 8 references, several of which are YouTube videos, an Amazon listing, and personal blogs.

A full rewrite is at User:JamesRichII/sandbox with ~30 inline citations to independent reliable sources (NPR, Billboard, CBS News, Chicago Sun-Times, WBEZ, ABC7 Chicago, The Hollywood Reporter, Andscape/ESPN, Simon & Schuster, and the Recording Academy). The rewrite removes promotional claims and any material that could not be verified in independent sources, and corrects the awards record against Grammy.com (three wins: Best Spoken Word Poetry Album 2023 and 2024, Best Roots Gospel Album 2023; one nomination, 2022).

Thank you for your very thorough COI edit request. I would like to make a suggestion for your future reference.

Edit requests are reviewed on a voluntary basis by a limited number of volunteers. For edit reuests, it is best to break large edits up into smaller ones. Make smaller proposed edits rather than larger ones, which take longer to review. If your proposal consists of parts that are clearly uncontroversial and parts that are more complex, consider splitting it into two requests. This will increase the chances of the uncontroversial changes being accepted quickly. Similarly if you wish to make multiple large and/or potentially controversial changes then split them into separate requests that don't depend on each other, making it more likely that at least some of your changes will be accepted. It can be difficult for volunteer editors to parse your request if it is incredibly large. Particular in your case, since the proposed changes aren't highlighted, a volunteer would have to cross reference your proposed article with the current one. You may want to revise your COI edit request to be broken up into smaller parts, and for those smaller requests to have clearly stated your proposed changes in a "Change X to Y" format. You may find the Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request page helpful.

While your edit request would likely eventually get answered, having your edit being more approachable can be the difference between a 2 week wait and a 6 month wait.

I want to make clear that these are suggestions. They are not required for your COI edit request to be reviewed, though it would likely help it get reviewed faster.

COI edit request 1: correct the awards table

I have a COI (disclosed on my user page). This is a small, self-contained factual correction to the "Awards and nominations" table. The table currently omits one Grammy win and one nomination, and no row carries a citation.

COI edit request 2: replace the unsourced "Ad campaigns" and "Voice overs" sections

I have a COI (disclosed on my user page). The "Ad campaigns" and "Voice overs" sections carry no citations at all, and several claims in them (the Verizon "History in the Making" campaign and Gold Clio, the Nissan and Benjamin Moore commercials, and the Sunday Night Football introduction with Faith Hill) I could not verify in any independent published source. As the subject, I would rather they came out than stayed in unsourced.
