I am against surnames as WP:PTOPICs - like all PTOPICs, they accumulate bad links, which are bad for the encyclopaedia. See User:Certes/Taxa linked to surnames and User:Certes/Surname links for a limited selection. Many of those problems weren't quick or easy; I remember that one took me two hours.
