Gelded
[edit]It says in the article that Istabraq was gelded. As far as I know this isn't true and I have heard many accounts that say so.
The Racing Post stats say he is gelded (the 'g' on the right of his date of birth). I've certainly never heard of him being a stallion since retirement and the stats don't mention it. --Davebesag 08:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- when a horse is gelded the Racing Post database is updated so that the horse shows up as a gelding in ALL stats. Istabraq was certainly a gelding as a hurdler, but given his breeding it would be surprising if he had been gelded before he had definitely failed to make it on the flat. My educated GUESS is that the knife came down sometime in the early summer of 1996. Will check Tigerboy1966 (talk) 01:04, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
