[edit] Hello-

This is Denise Crovetti, Isabella's mom. We have been trying to change her stage name on WIKI for a while now. You have her listed as Isabella Cramp which is her birth name but she has been going by her stage name Isabella Crovetti for about 8 years now. I am fine , like Lady Gaga has on her page listing her birth name, but in the search engine and also for the top of the page I am trying to change it to Crovetti.

Please see the below URL her official facebook page, IMDB and press she is crovetti. We have so many articles and press that she is Crovetti here are just a few. Can you please change this for her?

I've made this a formal edit request as a courtesy. 331dot (talk) 18:01, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
The account User:Denisecrovetti, which has been making COI edits on this article for years, has been blocked, since at least one edit from this account claimed to be Isabella herself, the subject of the article. However, despite any bad-faith editing going on, an examination of the performer's credits shows that between 2014 and 2016, she did shift to a new stage name (a fine old tradition), with an awkward stop at "Crovetti-Cramp" in between. Since it appears that the Crovetti name is now the name used for the subject, I have moved it. However, I note a recent edit from an IP address by somebody claiming to be the subject's legal counsel. That IP address has been temporarily blocked for disruptive editing, and warned about undisclosed paid editing. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:27, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The banning doesn't seem particularly fair, or maybe less the banning and the application of the rule itself. In this particular case, I feel like more harm may have been done by its continued enforcement than was prevented. Maybe it's just my perspective as someone who as a child took on a different surname than my birth name. To a child, this means a lot, often because of trauma related to the former name. (I certainty am not implying that is the case here, but it clearly meant a lot to Isabella as a minor.)
I went and looked at the rule regarding editing your own page and in it's closing it says
"If you're the subject of a Wikipedia article, you can certainly change your article without editing it directly."
Which is not very clear as to what that means. But, in the case of Isabella Crovetti, she was in the awkward position of having enough public visibility to warrant a wikipedia page, but not enough visibility to have a "rando" notice the change and make the edit.
And to a kid who has made the decision to change their birth name, for whatever purpose, it would be hurtful, potentially traumatizing, to see the "dead name" any time they searched for themselves.
From the conflict of interest page:
"However, our policy on matters relating to living people allows very obvious errors to be fixed quickly, including by the subject."
As for @Denisecrovetti "claiming to be Isabella herself", Isabella was a minor, and it's rational to think that her mother was operating on her behalf. I think that a ban reversal, even just for @Denisecrovetti, and if only for the principal of the matter, is in order.
Kid celebrities already go through enough without wikipedia dead naming them, and it seems that @Denisecrovetti was only trying to protect her daughter. Furthermore, the rule has either been changed since the application of it here, or was incorrectly applied originally. 2601:5C5:4200:FCE0:E519:79C:5F4A:1D22 (talk) 05:18, 16 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
