The airport is not listed as João Paulo II anywhere.
The airport's own website calls itself simply Ponta Delgada, and has no mention of João Paulo.

(That date ALSO happens to have been the 120th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans, which catapulted Andrew Jackson to non-musical national fame and eventually a transformative two-term Presidency, though HIS career was even LESS relevant to this late lady's career than was Elvis's.
