The decision was to move the article to Isaac Bissell, because there was clearly a post rider who traveled through Massachusetts and to Hartford, Connecticut.
See Talk:Israel Bissell#Two post riders named Bissell? about whether there were two riders or not. This came up in a letter to an editor by a historian. After research, researched in a very detailed manner, it became clear that there were two routes from Waterton/Worcester:
- One was a westerly route across the state to Springfield, and then down to Hartford, Connecticut by Isaac Bissell.
- Another route went south of Worcester into Connecticut and then along the coast to New York by Israel Bissell.
So two articles are needed. I brought back the Israel Bissell article. The only question now is - did Israel ride all the way to Philadelphia. In New York, there was an order for another rider to go west as far as Philadelphia.–CaroleHenson (talk) 23:40, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

- An Isaac Bissell was a blacksmith and owned the Timothy Swan House in Suffield, until he sold it in April 1788, printed page 172 of the previous source
