Requested move 17 July 2026

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Discounting the sockpuppet's comment. Feel free to add any hatnote. (closed by non-admin page mover) Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 19:35, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Irumudi → Irumudi (film) – Irumudi also refers to a travelling kit which a pilgrim carries on his head during the pilgrimage. It is considered sacred and is related to religion. One can refer to lead here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayyappan to understand more about to it.

Irumudi (film) name would differentiate between religious sacred Irumudi and film apart.

Go through this for more information - https://www.sabarimala.com/sacred-irumudi.htm

The move was made unilaterally to Irumudi from Irumudi (film).

Requesting to move back to Irumudi (film) to ensure there is no confusion and misinformation. Wikipicked (talk) 05:37, 17 July 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 17:41, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support to clarify it is not the pilgrim traveling kit ~2026-38391-81 (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oppose as Wikipedia has no seperate article on the traveling kit. This could instead be handled with a hat note pointing to Ayyappan. Bensci54 (talk) 16:08, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: not moved. This RM was opened one day after the previous one closed, and did not provide any substantially new arguments. There has also been no support after two weeks. If a new article is created on the sacred bundle, this can be revisited. Irumudi → Irumudi (film) – Irumudi is a highly popular term and is religious, especially in India and South India, it is actually associated with the Sabarimala pilgrimage. Irumudi means a sacred bundle carried by devotees. The film draws its name with that concept, and I don't think it is the primary topic for the present title name. See - https://www.sabarimala.com/sacred-irumudi.htm

The previous RM's closer only considered comment focused on the fact that there is no standalone article for the religious concept and closer closed simply by just considering single input, but I don't think that alone should determine whether the film stays in "Irumudi". Readers searching for "Irumudi" may be actually looking for the religious term rather than this film. The title Irumudi (film) clearly avoids ambiguity, the title "Irumudi" can be left available for future development on actual Irumudi or it cna be made a disambiguation page. • Move to nom preference as soon as a stand-alone page for the sacred bundle is written and posted, even as a stub. Until then the upcoming film has preference on English Wikipedia. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:02, 8 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
