Make article on Iron Dames

Is it possible to make an Iron Dames article, and not just a redirect to Iron Lynx? Even tho they are the same entity and owner with Iron Lynx, the operational becoming different in recent years. Do you agree @User:MSport1005 Thfeeder (talk) 06:03, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

Redirect target

So, over the last few days one user has insisted on replacing Iron Lynx as the redirect target here. All this in spite of Iron Dames being an Iron Lynx offshoot, led by Iron Lynx co-owner Deborah Mayer and covered in depth in that article. Since this is too long to argue in an edit summary, I'll address it here.

While the two brands are obviously closely connected, they're going separate ways strategically in 2025 – IL aligning itself with Mercedes and ID with Porsche. The ID programs will be supported by a variety of teams: Manthey in WEC, Proton in ELMS/IMSA and Proton Huber in MLMC. For some reason the target link is being changed to Manthey Racing. Even though, in ID's 7 years of history, Manthey hasn't yet run a single race for them.

Management-wise, Iron Dames remains under ownership of DC Racing Solutions (i.e. Iron Lynx bosses Deborah Mayer and Claudio Schiavoni). This piece – by an unknown website, possibly a WP:BLOG by Phil Oakley – is feeding into the confusion by stating "the entire project has separated from Iron Lynx". But we know this is only true operationally.

What's clear is redirecting team pages to (new) service providers isn't a good idea – and I myself don't see a better alternative than Iron Lynx. That is where information on ID exists.

Perhaps the optimal solution would be to actually create an Iron Dames article? For that, a split proposal exists – which makes a pretty good point: ID is [arguably] more notable than its own parent team. MSport1005 (talk) 03:03, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
