"Internet manipulation" or "Internet manipulation and propaganda"

Should this article be moved to Internet manipulation and propaganda? It already covers the topic of online propaganda to some extend and its category also takes both those terms together (Category:Internet manipulation and propaganda).

Until now I thought it would be best if those 2 things would be treated separately (an extra Internet propaganda article) with Internet manipulation only being superordinate to most of Internet propaganda.

What is the difference with the articles on disinformation and misinformation?

I am not sure what is the point of this article, really. It seems to overlap a lot with disinformation, misinformation, disinformation attack. I tried to make the introduction a bit different, but it seems a bit redundant MexFin (talk) 06:23, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

COI edit request: the amplification claim cites no measurement (and why I am NOT touching the 2017 tag)

I have a conflict of interest here and am requesting rather than making this edit.

The issue: A {{Better source needed}} tag dated February 2017 has stood for nine years on the sentence beginning "Clarifications, conspiracy busting and fake news exposure often come late...", whose only support is a link to a German-language television documentary on the ZDF website, which is what the tag is objecting to.

I want to be direct about this: the source I have does not fix that sentence. It measures how automated accounts change what human users are exposed to; it says nothing about the timing or reach of corrections. I am not proposing it there and I think the tag should stay until someone finds a source for the claim as written.

What I can offer is for the sentence just before it, "Specific points, views, issues and people's apparent prevalence can be amplified, stimulated or simulated." That amplification claim is currently carried by <ref name="guard1" /> alone, and the section discusses bots without citing any measurement of what they do.

Proposed change: Insert one sentence immediately after "stimulated or simulated." and before "(See also: Mere-exposure effect":

Automated accounts have been measured increasing the exposure of human users to negative and inflammatory content in online social systems.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Stella|first1=Massimo|last2=Ferrara|first2=Emilio|last3=De Domenico|first3=Manlio|year=2018|title=Bots increase exposure to negative and inflammatory content in online social systems|journal=Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences|volume=115|issue=49|pages=12435-12440|doi=10.1073/pnas.1803470115}}</ref>

Nothing about the tagged sentence changes under this proposal.
