[edit]I think that you need to expand the definition at the beginning. It is more than an icon and more than navigation. What about widgets and controls? Can you come up with any free to use images of icons? Need external links and references and a bit of clean up. Needs some references at the end.

[edit]Well written but you still need to expand the definition at the beginning, etc. I don't think that you have read the discussion page. While I appreciated the point of writing a succinct article for Wikipedia, I think that topic is bigger and you could have gone into more detail. Another recent problem is that the image that you posted was deleted by the OrphanBot. Group total points = 43/50.

[edit]I suggest merging this page into the article Icon (computing). The latter article focuses primarily on the graphic qualities of icons, while the former takes a cognitive psychology approach. I think that the merge would improve the Icon (computing) article by broadening its scope. -- Dcflyer 22:14, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup
[edit]This article requires serious cleanup. An interface methaphor is not an icon at all but a much higher-level concept. So instead of merging with the proposed article I would rather remove any confusing reference to icons. Icons are just part of the desktop metaphor, which is a particular case of interface metaphor.
