Misclassified articles

[edit]

Articles are regularly being misclassified into the user interface techniques category, especially articles about:

  • Design methodologies
  • HCI theories
  • Software architectures
  • Specific computer applications

In order to avoid the need for regular clean-ups I've created an article to clarify the concept of user interface technique as it is currently understood by a vast majority of researchers and practitioners in human-computer interaction.

I've decided to name the article interaction technique instead of user interface technique because it's a more commonly used term. The latter seems to be more common in patent documents, if you do a Google Scholar search.

This article inevitably reflects my own interpretation of the concept and of the related literature. Other HCI researchers are very welcome to iterate over it and add more references.
