The taxonomy section is really good, however- there is a lot of potential for you to develop this wiki page into any direction you want to. The lack of sections in this article could allow you for focus on topics you're interested in specifically about River Dolphins. Number of Species

The "Speciation" section lists 3 species, stating that one of them - Inia humboldtiana - is considered by some a subspecies.

However, the "Taxonomy" section lists 4 species including Inia araguaiaensis, with no indication of debate over any of them. The fourth species should be mentioned in the "Speciation" section, with supporting sources for its presence as a species or subspecies. Mastakos (talk) 23:31, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

Frankly I don't think the speciation section even has a place here. That should go on the page for Inia itself. The Morrison Man (talk) 13:05, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Per WP:Mammals, we should consider as valid species those taxa that are either listed at both the IUCN and the ASM's MDD, or that is listed at one of them and has multiple secondary or tertiary supporting references. IUCN only lists I. geoffrensis; ASM's MDD lists it as well as I. araguaiaensis, I. boliviensis, and I. humboldtiana. Those three need other supporting references or we should not consider them as valid as of yet.
