Question

[edit]

Why is this article not extended-confirmed protected like Indian Air Force and Indian Navy? ~2025-38406-31 (talk) 15:07, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request to Revert unsourced change to 'Founded' field in infobox

[edit]

Please revert this edit which altered the established consensus for the founding date.

While the military history of India dates back thousands of years (including the Maurya Empire), the Indian Army as a continuous, specific administrative institution directly traces its legal lineage to the consolidation of the Presidency Armies into the British Indian Army in 1895, and its subsequent transition to the independent armed forces of India on August 15, 1947. The Maurya Empire's military is an ancient predecessor of the region, not the founding administrative entity of the current state apparatus. ~2026-32574-60 (talk) 12:47, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Done I have reverted the change to the infobox, as no source was provided and it bore no relation to anything mentioned in the article. Day Creature (talk) 14:08, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
