Imputing false data

[edit]

Census agencies are restricted by law from publishing statistical data that could be used to identify individuals, and so when providing statistics that relate to a small number of people they impute false data to help to protect the real individuals. For example, if one searches a census results website for 80+ year olds in a region where there are only 1 or 2, it should present 10+ results where the extras are fabrications.

Should this go in the Imputation (law) or Imputation (statistics) section, or both? Or somewhere else? 62.25.109.195 (talk) 08:05, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
