Expansion

The writer of this article, myself, has never heard of Impromptu, and I based the article off of a few high school websites. I have no idea if anything is factually accurate or even a close approximation of Impromptu style; if someone who has practiced it could give it a read-through and correct errors, it would be very good. Possible merge

As stated above, I don't know much about Impromptu. I have read differing analyses, and I am starting to wonder whether Ipromptu should go under Comedic debate as a subheading, or if it differs sufficiently to merit its own article. (I hesitate to put a {{merge}} tag on the page, because I'm not sure if it merits it or not.) Opinions? Ourai ^т _с 03:44, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Geographical Difference in Term Usage

Canadian debating uses "Impromptu" as to mean a debate without preparation, but with the same degree of rigour as a normal Parliamentary debate. Some tournaments combine both prepared rounds and impromptu rounds, while some tournaments are entirely impromptu. Whatever the tournament, the Canadian "impromptu" is serious, and never "comedic".
