I believe the web copy of the man page from which I took much of this information (and which is listed in the external links) is public domain, although I will get explicit clearance from the original author. --UC Bill (talk) 20:13, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

inp or imp ?

[edit]

The introduction states that INP is pronounced imp. Is this correct / should it be inp ? Ronnam (talk) 03:40, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

imp is the correct pronunciation (according to the original documentation, and common usage around UC Berkeley, where the database is still in use) and is virtually indistinguishable from inp in normal conversation (compare to NPR which is typically pronounced mpr.) --UC Bill (talk) 15:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The English language and what people do with it never ceases to amaze me ! Ronnam (talk) 22:37, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
